Description
Rare Banded Agate from Northern Arizona
I stumbled upon this incredible piece of rare agate while rock-hounding in Northeastern Arizona. It has beautiful water lines and some champagne druzy poling out. I have cut and polished a corner so you can see how unique and gorgeous this rock is. This would make a great piece to decorate your home with or you could slice it into several pieces and make cabochons out of it. Either way, it’s amazing!
Composition:
Agate is a product of patience and transformation, forming layer by layer as water with silica drips into cracks and empty spaces in the rock. Just like how a pearl forms inside an oyster, this incredible process occurs deep in the ground.
A druzy is a set of tiny crystals of minerals that form on the surface of another stone. Druzy clusters can be formed by many different minerals, and because there are so many different types of minerals there are so many types of agates!
